Eye Disease Co-Management
There are lots of proactive measures you can take to slow down the progression of cataracts and keep your vision sharp for longer. While surgery might still be on the horizon, these steps can significantly delay its necessity, giving you more time to enjoy clear sight.
Protect Your Eyes from the Sun
The National Eye Institute advises keeping your eyes safe from the sun's harmful UV and HEV rays by wearing high-quality sunglasses whenever you're outside. Choose sunglasses that block 100% of UV rays and absorb most HEV rays, preferably with large lenses or a close-fitting wraparound style for the best protection. Keep in mind that the sun's rays are strongest between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., or 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. during daylight savings time. Even on cloudy days, UV rays can still reach you, so make sunglasses a daily essential for your eye health.
